The Coyote Cloudywing is a musky grey-brown color with a conspicuous white fringe on the lower edge of the hindwing. It has a few off-white markings on the upper wing. It will come to the garden to feed on flower nectar.

Its upper range extends into the southeastern United States.

According to the Natural History Museum, the host plant is a legume - Ebenopsis ebano (Berland.) (synonym Pithecellobium ebano), a cultivated tree with a native range that includes the southern tip of Texas and extends into Mexico.
